4 Steps to Clear Skin

Whether you call them zits, spots, pimples or blemishes, one thing is for sure””none of these words are terms of endearment. But I’ve got good news. If blemishes bring you down, you can break the breakout cycle with a consistent skincare routine and products that are right for your skin type.

Botanical-based solutions utilize the potent powers of nature to cleanse, soothe and nourish in ways chemicals can’t. Follow these steps for clearer skin:

1. Cleanse: Use a gentle, natural cleanser like MyChelle Clear Skin Cleanser  to lift and wash away impurities and excess oil.

2. Tone: Choose an alcohol-free astringent (I recommend Alba Botanica Natural Anecdote Deep Clean Astringent) with herbal or citrus extracts to clarify and balance.)

3. Exfoliate: A non-abrasive exfoliant  like Alba   Botanica Natural Acnedote Face and Body Scrub  can clear out dead skin cells, making room for new, healthier ones.

4. Moisturize: Even acne-prone skin needs hydration! A lightweight, oil-free moisturizer such as Avalon Organics  Rejuvenating Oil-Free Moisturizer with Vitamin C    fortified with vitamins and antioxidants will help soothe and protect skin without clogging pores.

In a nutshell, my motto for clear skin is: Hydrate, Exfoliate, Moisturize :)To keep your skin hyradted, drink lots of water and avoid drinking sodas and caffeinated drinks. Don’t use harsh soaps and use alcohol based products sparingly.Treat your skin to a weekly exfoliating session. For me, natural is always better, and I personally love using brown sugar and coconut or olive oil as an all organic face and body scrub :) Use a mild, non-comedogenic facial moisturizer and apply it day and night. You can also try this natural mask for an instant moisture boost :soak a cotton ball in milk and apply directly on your face. Apply one layer at a time and wait for it to dry before applying the next later. Rinse it off after 15 minutes or so and voila! you get uber soft and supple skin :)For blackheads and minor blemishes, try using witch hazel as a toner. It easily gets rid of dirt and excess oil, and helps tighten your pores. If you have sensitive skin like me, this will be the perfect toner for you since its all organic and its alcohol free so it won’t dry our your skin :)

I use #1 and #3 — love MyChelle Clear Skin Cleanser in the mornings and Alba Face/Body scrub at night! The scrub is really gentle, so you can use it daily without worry.

There’s a lot of tgnihs you can do to help your skin out, easy tgnihs like washing your face after you work out, before you go to bed, and after you’ve been wearing make up can really clear tgnihs up. Use a mild cleanser, like Cetaphil (or one that’s specific to your skin type..), and moisturize with a light moisturizer preferably fragrance free. Drink lots and lots of water, cut down on your dairy intake, and increase your fresh veggie and fruit intake. ALWAYS wear sunscreen, and exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week!
