Quote of the day:
“Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn.”
I’m blown away by Mother Nature, and I bow to her daily; but even more so during spring. It’s astounding to me how, when we “spring ahead” with daylight saving time, everything changes. Everything! It’s energetic. And it infiltrates every aspect of life. And that makes sense, because the light changes everything. It’s a metaphor, people. Do you see it?
My five kids have more energy (is that possible?). I have more energy (is that possible?). Light begins to stream through the windows at the end of my daily, predawn open practice at Prana Newton. My Sunday 11 a.m. hour of power at Prana Newton usually sells out, but now the sun and warm spring air beckons many a yogi outside, and you can get a spot to practice.
As I back outta my driveway at 4:15 a.m. every morning, the green buds are peeking through the earth just a bit more, and my heart skips a beat. It’s a miracle. Every spring they appear. And fill our world with beauty. Quietly. Effortlessly. Powerfully. Without asking for anything in return.
Spring teaches me many things:
1. I’m happy I live where we enjoy seasons. Contrast is important. The spring is even more delicious, because it follows the winter. Winter is important, too. A time to hunker down, look inward, snuggle up, slow down. A time for everything. I lived in LA for high school (go Calabasas High!), and I missed the seasons.
2. Every moment is a chance to begin again.
3. Bright colors rock and elevate energy.
4. Try easy.
5. Be humble.
6. Be grateful.
7. Surrender to a force so powerful it creates spring every year.
Have the best day ever!
