Chase away winter chills with a bowl of homemade chili or soup and these Gluten-Free Cornbread Mini Muffins. Melt-in-your-mouth moist with just the right amount of crumble, they’re quick to make and healthier than the traditional version—made with flax instead of eggs, coconut oil spread in place of butter and your choice of dairy or non-dairy milk.
When you’re looking for a little “extra something” to complete your look, a fresh coat of polish for your fingers and toes can do the trick!
But if there’s no time or room in your budget for a trip to the salon, why not do it yourself at home? Here are some tips for getting pretty nails — without paying for a pricy manicure or pedicure:
You’ve finally gotten into a groove—going to the gym every day, eating right, feeling good about your progress. Then it happens. You get sick. And as you cope with a steadily worsening cough, runny nose and sore throat, you start to battle with yourself: I can still exercise! I’m not that sick. I should stick to my routine. Right?
Making resolutions for the new year can be tricky. We all go for the standards; eat better, exercise more, weigh less and so on and so forth. This year, how about making a resolution that’s a little less egocentric? Good health and a strong body are, indisputably, important. Yet, if you stop and think about the year behind us, and you consider how lucky you are to still have your man, as well as your children, by your side, you will probably realize there’s no time like the present to make your New Year’s Resolutions about them.
It’s been a delicious (and healthy) year! Plates were piled high with colorful salads. Meatless Mondays trickled over into Tuesdays (and Wednesdays and Thursdays…). You kicked gluten to the curb. Burned out your blender on micro-greens smoothies. Fell harder in love with chocolate than you ever thought possible, once you tasted it raw.
It’s a sad day when a newly manicured nail gets chipped. But it’s practically heartbreaking when, one by one, all of your nails break, leaving ugly little stumps where gloriously glossy, gorgeously squared tips used to exist. Thanks a lot, Winter.
