“Healthy” Candies to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Can we just say one word: “Yum!” Yup, it’s true: We looooove sweets. So when we discovered that July 31 is National Jump for Jelly Beans Day, we knew that we had to explore the options for satisfying that sweet tooth without guilt!

From the obvious (fresh fruit masquerading as “candy”) to the surprising (would you believe calorie-free chocolate dip for those strawberries?), we’ve sampled, tasted, oohed and ahhed our way to the sweetest blissful options available. Here you go:

Get your healthy chocolate fix with Vitacost Super Cacao bars, with 66% dark cacao and organic ingredients.

Fresh fruit as “candy”: Ever had a perfect blueberry and exclaimed, “It’s as sweet as candy!”? That’s the ultimate intersection of sweet tooth  and health. The problem: Your favorite fruit isn’t always in season, and  finding truly good fruit can require time that you don’t have. Eden Foods  Organic Dried Wild Blueberries solves that problem with always-available good-for-you blueberries that are so sweet, they truly do taste like  candy.

Trail mix: Heigh  ho, heigh ho, it’s off to hike you go! Whether you’re walking, biking,  hiking or shopping (hey, doing the mall can be fitness!), energizing trail  mix combines the delights of nuts and seeds with dried fruits. The only  problem: Choosing your favorite.Woodstock  Farms Cascade Trail Mix or (our favorite) make your own! Mix dried  coconut, carob chips, assorted nuts, seeds and dried fruit for a tasty  trail mix with endless variations.

Licorice:  Attention, licorice lovers. We’ve got a delight for you with gluten-free Orgran  Molasses Licorice: Or, if you prefer fruit-flavored licorice, get guilt-free Candy Tree  Organic Strawberry or Raspberry licorice.

Jelly beans: We  mentioned that July 31 is National Jump for Jelly Beans Day. But you can  jump for jelly bean joy any day of the year with organic Surf Sweets  Organic Jelly Beans.

Chocolate: Can  you talk about candy without a salute to chocolate? We think not. Filled  with antioxidants, chocolate makes a tasty snack that’s guilt-free when  you choose the dark variety, which is higher in antioxidants, such as Chocolove  Dark Chocolate Bar with Almonds and Sea Salt.

Ginger: Warming,  soothing, good for the digestion, candy containing ginger belongs in every  home! Like hard candy? Try Ginger People Gin-Gins Hard Candy. Prefer chewy? Go for Prince of Peace Ginger Candy Chews.

Dark chocolate with sea salt is my ultimate indulgence. So tickled to find out it’s not that bad of a choice! I’ve got to try that organic licorice, too.
