On-the-Go Nutrition for Plant-Based Vacationers

As you gear up for summer camping and road trips, and pack your bags for outdoor music festivals or that family reunion, it’s easy to get off track with your healthy diet. The last thing you want to do is heat up your oven or stove, and you’re rarely even home. Luckily, eating clean doesn’t have to be a chore. Pack foods that are rich in these nutrients to nourish you no matter where your adventures take you.

Healthy Vegan Snacks for Summer Trips

Protein

Protein is not just required to maintain and support muscle development but also for nearly every function of the body. Protein helps to keep your blood sugar stable, provide sustained energy, and allows you to feel fuller longer. It’s not just found in meat, dairy or eggs. Simply add nutrient-dense, plant-based options, such as nuts, seeds, beans and organic soy. Nuts and seeds are convenient to pack and don’t spoil easily—perfect for family trips.

Omega-3s

Numerous recognized studies have linked omega-3 intake with important wellness benefits including support for heart, brain and joint health. As an added bonus, they also help your skin look radiant—something you’ll love as the weather forces you to show more skin. Look for potent plant-based sources of omega-3s, such as chia, flax and hemp seeds. Sprinkle them on your smoothie or salad for a summery treat that’s rich in omega-3s.*

Greens

Luckily, now is the time of year when a salad seems more appetizing than a rich, hot meal. If you’re worried about finding greens on your travels, pack pre-cut carrots, celery and radishes. Greens supplements can also be beneficial when you’re on-the-go.
