Ladies, 50 Is the New 40!

Stop being afraid of aging! We women tend to mourn our birthdays before celebrating them, because we’re so wrapped up in the changes that come with getting older. Once you realize you can look and feel your fittest at any age, you’ll have nothing to fear. In fact, you might become fearless.

How Fitness Fits Into Your 40s & 50s

Keep your youthful glow with anti-aging skincare available for less at Vitacost.com.

Let’s address the physical changes we experience during our 40s and 50s, so I can prove to you that these are minor bumps in the road.  Make a few adjustments to your routine, add a supplement here and there and, I promise, your age will be nothing but a number.

You may notice nagging aches and pains after performing exercises you once found effortless.

What gives? In younger years, you recovered much faster and your body wasn’t as “experienced.”

JNL Tip: It’s never too late to start taking a joint support supplement. Our joints take the brunt of every move we make and the strain adds up over the years. It’s important to keep these bone-to-bone junctions as lubricated and flexible as possible. If you can’t stand being sore, pop a temporary pain-reliever such as ibuprofen to get you through the day.

Your energy levels and motivation to move isn’t what it used to be.

What gives? You’re probably experiencing a natural shift in hormones.

JNL Tip:  Menopause may be the reason you’re feeling low on energy and not as peppy. I’m here to tell you that you can win the war on menopause! One way to help ease symptoms is to regularly schedule exercise.

You can also support a healthy estrogen level — and cool down those hot flashes — with an herbal supplement that promotes a positive mood.  Once you have the right frame of mind and a more balanced hormone level, the motivation and energy to workout won’t be an issue.

When you gain weight now, it comes on quickly but shedding it feels impossible.

What gives?  Your metabolism has slowed down. Though frustrating, it’s completely normal.

JNL Tip:  Those years of splurging on cheesy fries are long gone. It’s time to watch what you eat but not in an obsessive way. Just be mindful of fueling your body with nutrient-dense foods.

It’s also more important than ever to be strength training. You don’t have to push and pull dumbbells. Body-weight exercises will help you build muscle, which means joint-friendly workouts like yoga and pilates may be your new must-do classes.
