4 Tips for Traveling With Pets

When I travel with the family, I like to travel with the whole family, and by that I mean all three of my scruffy puppies as well as my three crazy kids. More and more, hotels and travel lodges are offering pet-friendly accommodations so you can bring your furry friends with you wherever you go. And while traveling with a pet can be stressful, if you prepare wisely it will be smooth sailing.

Pet Travel Tips

Start by making sure you a have safe and secure method of transport for your pet. Specific creates, carriers, and harnesses are made to keep your pet safe while traveling by car. Though you can take small dogs and cats on an airplane as your “carry-on,” it’s not well recommended to take advantage of the pet cargo option for air travel as the conditions are less than desirable.

Now, if your pet has some anxiety about traveling, it can be a big help to give them a supplement to help with anxiety and calm their nerves. These natural supplements have ingredients like thiamin to help promote relaxation and help decrease anxiety. If you have a dog like my Tyson who drools and vomits the second he gets in the car, you can imagine how much these supplements help us all.

It’s also extremely helpful to bring their usual food with you. My dogs eat Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet food because Charlie has issues—that’s a long story. But the great thing about Natural Balance pet foods is the variety of sizes available. Whether your cat has a predilection for canned foods or your dog turns its nose up at anything but its tried and true kibble, Natural Balance is available in convenient and portable smaller size packages.

Even with the familiar cuisine, travel can cause gastrointestinal
distressTag Probiotics–if you’ve spent more time than you’d like to in an airport bathroom, you know this is true for humans as much as it is for our furry friends. Try Tag Probiotic Chews to support your dog’s digestive health.

And for the love of all things furry, do not forget to bring safe and fun dog and cat toys. From squeaky tennis balls and bones to cat nip toys and scratching pads, bringing along your pet’s favorite entertainment keeps Fido and Fifi from being destructive and you from having outrageous travel expenses. It’s a small item to pack and ensures an easier time for everyone.

Happy travels!
