And after months of hard work, we were proud to recently announce a new line of advanced, all-in-one formulations designed to provide natural solutions for common health concerns — Vitacost Targeted Wellness.

Having several friends and family members who deal with cholesterol issues, I find one of these supplements to be of particular interest.

Vitacost Targeted Wellness Cholesterol Support was designed to maintain healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels already within normal range.* This expertly combined formula features all the nutrients you’ve heard and read about in one supplement.

Each 2-capsule serving provides the following clinically studied ingredients:

  • 100 mcg of chromium GTF as ChromeMate ®, a superior, highly bioavailable form of chromium-an essential trace mineral required for normal protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism.*
  • 600 mg of red yeast rice, a natural substance that may help support cardiovascular health, as well as lipid cholesterol levels already within the normal range.*
  • 150 mg of Sytrinol ®, a patented and proprietary formula consisting of delta, gamma and alpha tocotrienols derived from natural citrus and palm fruit extracts.
  • 150 mg of pantethine as Pantesin ®, a pure and highly absorbable form of pantethine (vitamin B5).
  • 100 mg of L-arginine, an essential amino acid.

The entire Targeted Wellness line provides a benefit I feel compelled to call to your attention-convenience. Taking multiple products can be both confusing and expensive, which is why our team carefully formulated each supplement to contain everything you need for less than $1 a day.

Each unique blend delivers up to eight high-quality, clinically studied vitamins, minerals, standardized herbal extracts and other nutrients with demonstrated benefits for your particular health concern. These supplements really are the best of the best.

I am in the supplement industry. I can tell you that the Cholesterol Support formula does NOT contain clinically proven effective dosages of Red Yeast Rice, Sytrinol or Pantethine.
RYR requires 1,200 mg, Sytrinol 300 mg, and Pantethine 600 or 900 mg. Why not just use the clinically effective dose of one of these three ingredients?

    1. Mike H says:

If you look at the directions, they tell you to take 4 pills (two servings) per day. So if you double their numbers for a single serving you get exactly your numbers, except for the Pantethine.

I think i should win a free bottle for pointing out a typo haha The word relaxation there is missing the “e”

Vitacost® Targeted Wellness Stress Support: Delivering GABA (gamma-aminobutric acid), L-theanine, ashwaghanda and other nutrients to promote rlaxation and reduce stress.*

    1. Thanks for the heads up, Brad! :)

All I can say is that these curatives fall within the purview of the biochemists’ comment on ascertaining human RDAs for vitamins, minerals, aminos, etc. by feeding rats increasing amounts until there’s a weight gain, “An educated guess based on insufficient data.” Cholesterol anabolism is highly modulated by diet genetically and epigenetically and there’s a reason few understand it. Same applies to cognition, stress and all the rest of the combinatorial endocrine psychopharmacodynamics.

Does red yeast rice contain a statin or similar copound? I had cognitive side effects on a prescription one and ever since them I am scared to death to even think about it…

    1. Hi Vikki,
These products do not contain any medications. Please consult with your doctor before taking any supplement.

    2. Jon says:

Sort of, as red yeast rice is the precursor of the main ingredient in Statin drugs.

  5. Carlos says:

Vikki, I couldn’t agree more with Katie about consulting your physician before taking any supplements. Additionally, please do your due diligence with research regarding statins. Unfortunately, too many traditional Docs are not familiar with “Non-Rx” alternatives to cholesterol lowering remedies; and/or they’re not willing to share info outside of the Pharm industry because it doesn’t benefit them….$$$. Unfortunately, Red Yeast is a natural statin, and side effects vary. Please do your due. Be well!

  6. Bonnie says:

Be careful with Red yeast Rice, if you have had trouble taking a statin, as they act the same way in the body. I had muscle weakness from taking red yeast rice as well. They do sell the other ingredients on Vitacost, which I take , with no side effects.
