Endurance sports are a grueling challenge. If you’ve ever run a marathon, you know what miles of pavement pounding can do to your innocent little toes. It’s not pretty — and neither is chafing, blistering or bleeding. Unfortunately, these not-so-glamorous side effects are the reality of the sport. Think of them as battle wounds. And like any good athlete, you have to learn to lick your wounds and carry on.

Head-on wind, flying dirt, kamikaze bugs and pesky pollen can all cause dry, itchy, irritated eyes. As someone who recently had Lasik eye surgery, I want to be extra protective of my peepers — especially when I’m training. The benefits of music are immeasurable. Yet, some people still wonder if it’s a good idea to listen to music while exercising. For example, athletes aren’t allowed to wear headphones in a race, so some prefer to train in silence claiming it helps prepare them mentally. Q: How do you keep stains and smells out of your workout clothes?

The worst part is sweat can soak into your clothes and even remain smelly after washing (gross, right?). Don’t give up and go shopping for all new gear just yet. Our pro tips will help you get rid of those nasty odors.

When an athlete falls in love with a non-athlete…it can be a match made in heaven. But if you’re the athlete in the relationship, it may break your heart to balance training, recovery and quality time with your partner and end up falling short (there aren’t enough hours in the day!). You’ll be happy to know that you can win them over with just a few romantic gestures up your sleeve.
