We all know life can be very expensive, from monthly bills to everyday costs; things add up and can hit your budget hard. Often, you may find yourself left with little cash for “extras” like beauty basics, cleansers, moisturizers and sun protectants. The best thing to do is become a beauty budget guru by looking for specials online, signing up for newsletters and staying connected with your favorite brands. Frequently, special offers and great deals are given to Facebook fans, through Twitter and via email. By keeping up with the brands you love, you can save money and look fabulous while doing it. Developing a beauty budget is essential to keeping up your good looks without breaking your bank.
Hair has it pretty rough, when it comes to beauty. With all that washing, blow drying and flat ironing, not to mention highlighting and color treatments, it’s no wonder your tired tresses are ready for a trim after six short weeks. If you wait longer, those straggly strands start to rebel. Smooth and shiny becomes frayed and frazzled, making hair harder to style and keep in place. At the bottom of it all—split ends sprout, traveling up the shaft and leading to that look we all dread the most (aaack…not frizz!).
Q. I know I should be exfoliating regularly, but I don’t know much about it. A little guidance, please?
MyChelle Dermaceuticals licensed esthetician Catie Wiggy responds:
Psst… Do you want to know a beauty secret?
There’s a simple reason why men are slower than women to show signs of aging on their faces: They shave. Yep, that’s right. The act of shaving physically exfoliates the skin, eliminating dead skin cells on the surface, promoting healthy rejuvenation and increasing cellular turnover. The result is smoother, softer, younger-looking skin.
Our aromas affect people around us. When I’m traveling, I find myself confronted with the entire aroma spectrum of the human experience on airplanes, in cabs and on trains. Sometimes, I take a whiff and smile, but more often than not, I don’t.
Ever step out of the shower, clean as a whistle, towel off and within minutes your skin feels tight and itchy? Let me guess. You used soap. That trusty, dependable bar that’s been your bath buddy since childhood is somewhat of an enemy now that the rubber ducky is retired and your skin is struggling to stay hydrated as time ticks by.
