Q: I’ve heard that coconut is great for skin. What are the benefits? Can you recommend some coconut skincare products?
MyChelle Dermaceuticals licensed esthetician Catie Wiggy responds:
You heard right! Coconut is wonderful for skin. Women around the world (particularly in tropical regions) have used it for centuries as a natural solution for keeping skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Many swear by its anti-aging effects, said to be from both its intense moisturizing properties and its antioxidant content.
Fast food that’s healthy? You can’t score one of these “burgers” in a drive-through, but in less time than it takes to wait in line, you can make a meal far better for you than anything brought home in a hurry. Combine sautéed fresh vegetables, white beans and hemp powder for a hearty, protein-packed patty, then pan fry in coconut oil for a tropical taste!
Q: Coconut water is supposed to be a great alternative to sports drinks. Are you a fan? Do you use any other coconut products?
Amy Marsh answers:
Coconut is an amazing tropical fruit enjoyed throughout the world for its delicious taste and remarkable nutritional benefits—including an abundance of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Healthy and versatile, coconut comes in many forms, from shredded bits that can be used for baking to hydrating water that quenches thirst after a tough workout.

Chocolate cravings sometimes hit hard. When nothing can stop you, blend up a batch of this guilt-free, dairy-free pudding. Its creaminess comes from a “surprise” healthy ingredient: silky-smooth, whipped avocado! Mix in raw cacao and coconut for rich flavor, plus a sprinkle of cinnamon and vanilla for natural sweetness.
Remember the first makeup you had as a little girl? I’ll bet it tasted like strawberries, fit perfectly in your pocket and triggered a collection (or should I say obsession?) of flavors and colors that took up every free inch of surface space on your dresser—well into your teenage years.
