Q. When an anti-aging product says it provides “firming” benefits, what does that mean? You can’t really lift “saggy” skin with a topical cream, can you?

The elastin in our skin is what keeps things tight and in place; sometimes it is referred to as the “rubber bands” or “youth fibers” of the skin. As we age, the elastin’s fibers (fibroblasts) start to separate and breakdown causing your skin to sag. Firming can occur from products when ingredients are proven to support the elastin production within your skin. Look for products rich in peptides, vitamins and antioxidants. Read more →
