You’ve heard other people talking about argan oil, calling it a “Moroccan treasure” or “liquid gold.” But if you’re still not quite sure what to do with it — or if you think it’s just for skin — you’re in for a pleasant surprise! Read on to discover six different ways to use this versatile oil.
I have straight, fine, almost-black hair. As a little girl, I wanted nothing more than to wake up one morning with a head of Cindy-Brady-like blond sausage curls. This dream never came true, of course, but 30 years later, I did give birth to a beautiful little girl with a head full of dark blond ringlets. As much as I’ve lived vicariously through her precious locks—oh, how those springy curls went “boing!” when they were in tiny toddler pigtails—her dream hair brought with it more than I thought I’d bargained for. Namely: tangles.
Next to chocolate, and maybe a long, uninterrupted mid-day nap, a salon blowout is the most indulgent, instantly mood-lifting thing on Earth. Never had one? It goes something like this: You drag your worn-out, frazzled, ragged-looking self into a salon. Thirty minutes later you burst through door bright-eyed and ready to take on the world with a headful of voluminous, glossy, perfectly smooth hair bouncing off your shoulders. It’s pure… bliss.
Whether your family takes a day-trip to the beautiful Virginia shore or the back door of your home opens up to the glittering sands of Southern California, you’ll feel confident and comfortable if you are Bombshell beach ready. Here are my four favorite ways to rock your best body at the beach this summer.
Beauty news flash: “oil free” is on its way out. What’s been long feared as a pore clogger and pimple trigger is now being slathered on, soaked up and raved about for surprisingly opposite effects. Oil hasn’t always been considered the bad guy. In fact, women throughout history have relied on it to soften skin and smooth hair—long before little bottles of the stuff conveniently started showing up on store shelves.
Back in college, I had a girlfriend who had to-die-for long, thick, wavy hair. She wasn’t shy about sharing her secret. Every week, on Sunday evenings to be exact, she poured an entire cup of warm olive oil over her head, turbaned up with a warm towel and went about her business for a few hours (at home, of course) before washing it out. A little strange, I thought, but easy enough. I decided to give it a try.
When something isn’t working right, are you quick to throw in the towel or do you take a step back, roll up your sleeves and start digging for a solution? For me, quitting is never an option. So when I spend my hard-earned money on fancy new hair products or special anti-aging serums and they don’t work the magic the labels claim they will—I don’t toss them in the trash. I also don’t call the company to complain (not yet, anyway).
