After the holidays, I’m ready for some new flavors after staying quite true to the traditional holiday themes for all the Paleo events I’ve hosted between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Add to that the fact that in the height of cold season, we could all benefit from a little “heat” in our food–via garlic, cayenne and ginger–to help ward off those bugs that are all too present this time of year, and we’ve got a perfect rationale for a little spice in our recipe today!
Will I eat only raw fruits and vegetables? Can I still go to restaurants? What does a typical day’s meals look like?

It’s been a delicious (and healthy) year! Plates were piled high with colorful salads. Meatless Mondays trickled over into Tuesdays (and Wednesdays and Thursdays…). You kicked gluten to the curb. Burned out your blender on micro-greens smoothies. Fell harder in love with chocolate than you ever thought possible, once you tasted it raw.
When your body is alkaline, because you eat a net alkaline (Paleo) diet, you’re far less likely to be a good host (or hostess) to bacteria, viruses and yeasts than an acidic body fueled by grains, dairy, legumes and sugar.
In addition to following the Paleo lifestyle, there are other ways you can stay healthy while those around you are dropping like flies.
