Am I alone to feel as if my 22 lb. baby boy has the strength of an ox at times? It seems that when I need him to mold his body to his car seat, lay still so we can fall asleep when we’re in the bed together, or simply allow me to change his diaper - he somehow musters up the superhuman strength needed to nearly wiggle his way out! (Granted he hasn’t yet been successful, but I still feel the edge of defeat hanging over my head.
More often than not, we view situations as “impossible,” despite having not experienced them personally. I am not sure how I would handle being unemployed, disabled, or the parent of a chronically ill child- just to name a few. But there are scenarios and situations in your life that other people consider impossible; and when you realize this, you realize that impossible isn’t impossible at all – it’s normal!
More often than not, when people are discussing the holidays, I hear them talking about gifts. Sometimes it’s, “What would you like for Christmas?” or “I wish I could afford more this year.” While it is always nice to receive gifts as well as to give gifts, they are ultimately just things.

Pregnancy is like a magnet for strangers. For some reason, the sight of your pregnant belly makes people want to touch you, talk about your body, ask inappropriate questions and share unsolicited stories and advice. (No, I really DON’T want to hear about the hemorrhoids you got when you were pregnant in 1965.)
I really didn’t enjoy that part of being pregnant, so I thought when he was born it would be over. Although I’m not constantly being asked about my pregnancy or having unwanted hands on my belly, I’ve met an entirely new monster: people wanting to touch my baby. Read more →
