When people think of making mists with essential oils, they tend to think of air fresheners and room sprays first. Did you know that you can often use the same oils that scent your home to freshen your body as well? If you are enjoy your lunch-time walk in the sun but don’t want to go back to your desk and offend your colleagues, a simple essential oil body mist could be the perfect solution.
Body mists can smell great and still be very effective at cleansing the skin. The aroma you love can bring great benefits to skin and body care. Some of the most popular aromas are used to cleanse and refresh the body for a variety of reasons. Here are some examples:
Vanilla – The sweet aroma of vanilla blends well with other aromas. It is calming to the senses and pleasant smelling on the body. In body blends, it will mix well with other cleaning powerhouse oils like rosemary, lavender, peppermint, spearmint and/or citruses (not to be warn in the sun).
Lavender – The one oil that does it all, lavender is perfect for body blends due to its soothing properties for the skin. It is powerful enough at refreshing that it can be used all on it’s own. Just be careful not to overdo it – it might relax you enough that you won’t want to finish your day.
Spearmint – Refreshing spearmint is a great addition if you want to cool down after activity. It is also useful to keep your energy up if you have to return to a heady task post-workout.
Bergamot (Bergaptene Free) – Bergamot is a mild citrus that is a wonderful agent in deodorizing blends, and tends to be a universally pleasing aroma. When the bergaptene is removed, this is one citrus oil that can be worn in the sunshine.
To make your essential oil mist just do the following:
Add 6 to 7 drops of essential oil to 1 ounce of distilled water. Try combining some of the above, like lavender and bergamot or spearmint and vanilla – get creative and play around with your favorites.
