Make Your Own Natural Mouthwash

Tired of conventional mouthwashes that dry out your mouth and expose you to hazardous ingredients? Make your own natural mouthwash instead ““ it’s quick, easy and chemical-free!

The typical mouthwash contains a number of questionable ingredients, including alcohol, chemical sweeteners and artificial dyes. Alcohol is included to kill germs, but it also wipes out a number of friendly microorganisms, as well as your own saliva ““ both of which work together to keep your mouth clean and healthy. Artificial sweeteners and dyes can contain a number of questionable chemicals, including petroleum byproducts.

Avoid the unpleasant effects of conventional mouthwash by mixing your own. Simply combine the following ingredients in clean bottle or other container with a tight-fitting cap:

½ cup distilled water

1 cup aloe vera juice

2 tbsp baking soda

1 tbsp witch hazel

20 drops peppermint essential oil

Swish twice a day for a soothing, refreshing and natural way to support fresh breath and a clean mouth!

I wonder if this formulation will work on my dog VitaHound’s bad breath. Cleaning dog teeth is tough with VitaHound and I was hoping to find product for bad breath in dogs.

Is the witch hazel considered to be the germ-killer? Also, do you need to refrigerate this with the aloe vera juice in it?
